This week just got a lot more interesting thanks to Kanye West. Earlier this week, many — including REVOLT’s own Justin Laboy — converged upon a Vegas church to listen to West’s long-awaited album DONDA, a project that was first announced back in 2019 that pays tribute to his late mother. Then, it was revealed that the Chicago icon will play the full body of work during a listening event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Thursday (July 22).

Fast forward to relative moments ago, when those tuned in to Game 6 of the NBA Finals got a quick-strike teaser of a new single, which was played behind footage of star athlete Sha’Carri Richardson in promotion of Beats By Dre headphones. That song — titled “No Child Left Behind” and featuring Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Vory — sees Ye delivering the gospel throughout the short clip:

“Back again, I used my back against the wall, never called on y’all, never count on y’all, always count on God, he’s done miracles on me…”

Also confirmed during the video is the news we’ve really been waiting to hear — DONDA will officially be making landfall this Friday (July 23). If there’s a reason to rejoice, a new Ye LP is certainly it.

Upon release, DONDA will official follow West’s ninth album Jesus Is King, an 11-track offering that saw additional contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Ant Clemons, Clipse, Kenny G, Fred Hammond, and the Sunday Service Choir, a collective of vocalists and musicians who have been aiding West in performances since that project’s liberation. Outside of his own releases, we have heard West on songs by his peers during the same time frame — including Ty Dolla $ign’s “Ego Death” and Playboi Carti’s “Go2DaMoon,” among others.
