Back in October, Funk Flex liberated a single titled “Lurkin,” which saw him teaming up with rising star King Von — and fans of both were anything but disappointed. Unfortunately, Von lost his life in Atlanta mere weeks later, a tragedy that many in hip hop continue to reel from. Just before the year ended, a bittersweet video for the track surfaced, showing a vibrant Von during a New York excursion.

Today (July 15), Funk Flex has decided to up the ante by adding on another Chicago frontrunner — Polo G — for a remix of “Lurkin.” Over Flex, BMC Beats, and Grant Gardner’s hard-hitting production, Polo G effortlessly matches the late Von’s intensity with the kind of dark, ultra-violent raps that he’s known for:

“Young nigga, twenty-two, ten M’s up, 2021 X7, fuck a Benz truck, twenty-four shots in this FN tucked, playing, at the Heaven gates it’s where he gon’ end up, if I’m comin’ in your club, then I brought the Glock, opps pull up, they won’t make it out the parking lot, my lil’ nigga keep shootin’ ‘til his target drop, treat his head like a cig when we spark his top…”

Just last month, Polo G liberated his third studio LP Hall of Fame, a 20-track body of work that saw additional appearances from Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, G Herbo, Fivio Foreign, DaBaby, Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, Nicki Minaj, Pop Smoke (another artist gone too soon), and more. The project was a massive success, earning the 2020 XXL Freshman his first number one album thanks to an impressive 143,000 album equivalent streams sold during its first week of release. In addition, Hall of Fame has already passed the Gold certification mark, further solidifying Polo G’s position as one of the hottest in the game.
