Snoop Dogg will recap Olympics highlights in new show with Kevin Hart
Snoop Dogg will join forces with Kevin Hart for this new Olympics recap show.
Fans hoping to hear more hilarious sports commentary from Snoop Dogg have just gotten some great news.
Yesterday (June 23), Deadline reported that Snoop and Kevin Hart will recap events from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo for a new show for the Peacock streaming platform. The show will be called “Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg.” The new show will see the two speak on impressive athletic feats while also looking at happenings that “don’t go as planned.”
The show will be produced by Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Studios, and Paul Pawlowski has been tapped to be the showrunner for the new series. He’ll also executive-produce alongside Hart, Candice Wilson Cherry and Jeff Clanagan.
While there aren’t too many other details known about the show, the comedic stylings of Hart and Uncle Snoop are well documented. For his part, Snoop delivered some amazing LOL moments when he acted as a commentator during the Nate Robinson vs. Jake Paul boxing match last year. Considering that the show will also document unexpected happenings with these Olympic events, it’s not hard to imagine some Shaqtin’ a Fool-esque analysis going down.
Hart first spoke on this Snoop collaboration while speaking at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation this past May. At the time, he said that he and Snoop were “working on some more hilarious content that will be coming to you soon.” Now, fans know that “soon” means around the time the Olympics begin in Tokyo on July 23.
This show is just the latest big move for Uncle Snoop. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Snoop had joined Def Jam Recordings as an executive creative and strategic consultant. In an announcement video, he explained why he decided to link up with the Def Jam team.
“Now, you may wonder why so late in my career would I wanna work for Def Jam Records?” said Snoop, who was previously signed to Death Row Records and No Limit Records in the 1990s. “Well, let me tell you, as a young rapper, Def Jam was the holy grail of hip hop.”
He continued: “So, when I got the opportunity, my main focus on Def Jam Records was to help the artists and give them love and wisdom and guidance and understanding; [to] teach them some tricks that I learned in the game; to diversify their portfolios to not just be rappers and not just be artists, [but] to be superstars.”
Snoop plans to use his new Def Jam position to make sure Def Jam has dope music videos, TV shows and more.
