Twitter reacts to Tupac being turned into a Pixar character
An animated version of Tupac’s character in the 1992 film ‘Juice’ circulated the internet.
Two days after the hip hop world celebrated Tupac’s 50th birthday, an animated version of the late rap legend made its way around the internet. On Friday (June 18), a Twitter user shared a post captioned, “They said if Juice was made by Pixar.” Alongside his words was a video of the infamous scene in the 1992 film that captures Tupac’s character, Bishop, amid a discussion with his boy Q — played by Omar Epps — who had been avoiding him after he shot their friend Raheem.
“You’re right. I am crazy,” Bishop says in the clip after Q expresses his concern with his desire to be heavily involved in the streets.
“And you know what else? I don’t give a fuck. I don’t give a fuck about you. I don’t give a fuck about Steel. I don’t give a fuck about Raheem, either. I don’t give a fuck about myself.” The scene was the same as the original except one thing: Tupac looked exactly like a Pixar character (Think Toy Story, The Incredibles or the 2020 film Soul).
The post was retweeted over three thousand times, garnering tons of reactions from Juice and Tupac fans.
“You could really do an entire movie like this,” wrote film director and producer Matthew Cherry. “Animated heads with real bodies and backgrounds.”
“Aye hol on this shit would go,” wrote a second person. “Kinda hard animated lol.”
A fan of the West Coast star admired the creativity behind the post writing, “Yo…..that is incredible. Those facial animations are so thoughtful and expressive.” Another supporter requested to see an animated version of the film. “Can we get some funding, cause R-rated Pixar? We might be on to something,” the user wrote.
Overall, many fans expressed their desires to see Pixar put together a remake of Juice and other hood classics. A few did prefer the original version of the film.
