Rene Bonèt is a “Trendsetter” in new visual

The DMV-to-Atlanta talent also recently dropped off another clip for “Shawty.”

It’s pretty dope how Atlanta continues to be the source of ground-breaking, envelope-pushing talent — specifically in regards to hip hop and R&B. Having relocated there from the D.C. area, Rene Bonét has spent the last year pushing to the forefront of new artists, having already accomplished certain feats within her career. In addition to performing at OutKast’s iconic Stankonia Studios, the artist also known as Bully Barbé also connected with Grammy award-winning producer and engineer Alvin Speights. Finally, she also recently joined the likes of Jennaske, Cee1k, and (another D.C. rising star) 3ohBlack as one of ThisIs50’s artists to watch for 2021.

This week, she unveils a new single titled “Trendsetter,” a genre-bending, defiant cut that — as she explained via press release — is designed to show just how much Bonét has set herself apart from her peers:

“My delivery on ‘Trendsetter’ is unmatched and incomparable to any artist currently out right now. I’m coming on the scene with rock metal guitars and trap 808’s. I’m not afraid to rock out and get in your face.”

Courtesy of close collaborator Weku Did That, “Trendsetter” also sees an accompanying visual that gives off a rebellious vibe, with the multi-talent seen performing the infectious cut in different locations throughout the ATL. Her style and energy definitely matches the song, and you’ll definitely be playing the clip back a few times over as a result.

Further showing her versatility, this year has also seen Bonét release rock-infused cuts — including “No Dot Com” and “Mr. Billy” — and laid-back, soulful numbers like “Stay” and “Shawdy,” effectively making her a true chameleon in the industry.

Press play on “Trendsetter” — and, just for comparison, the equally amazing “Shawdy” video — below. Hopefully, a new full-length from Rene Bonét lies somewhere on the horizon.
