Last year, The Weeknd delivered one of the most successful project of 2020 with After Hours, a 14-track body of work that has since earned a wealth of accolades, including top positions on charts and Platinum certifications all over the globe. For a stand-out cut “Save Your Tears,” he made sure to give the track the deserved star treatment. Just last month, he shared an official remix of it featuring mega-star Ariana Grande. He’s now back once again to deliver a riveting live performance of it, reminding folks once again that performances are his strength.

Surrounded by hues of grey, he opens up his performance at this year’s Brit Awards. Then, the camera pans back out to reveal a change of tone, literally as the entire set turns red, and he delivers his vulnerable lyrics:

I made you think that I would always stay, I said some things that I should never say/ Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine/ And now you won’t love me for a second time

I don’t know why I run away, oh, girl, said, I make you cry when I run away/ Girl, take me back ‘cause I wanna stay, save your tears for another/ I realize that I’m much too late, and you deserve someone better/ Save your tears for another day (Oh yeah), save your tears for another day (Yeah)

Earlier this year, The Weeknd also acted as the sole performer for this year’s “Super Bowl LV” halftime show. The roughly 15-minute set saw the Canadian star delivering rousing renditions of “Call Out My Name,” “Starboy,” “The Hills,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Earned It,” “Blinding Lights” and other hits while unintentionally creating one of 2021’s most usable memes in the process. Longtime fans of The Weeknd also recently saw the 2011 classic House of Balloons land on streaming platforms in celebration of its tenth anniversary.
