NLE Choppa wants us to “Protect” ourselves in new visual

The Memphis star is all about good health and positivity on his latest.

As his fans have seen throughout the year, NLE Choppa has continued to change his subject matter in his music, switching from the usual street fare to lyrics about health and wealth at varying extremes. This week, he continues that pattern with his new single “Protect,” which is produced by Gum$ and Motif Alumni and sees the Memphis star referencing the Bible, Coronavirus, and more:

“I’d rather teach wellness, to kings and queens, matter of fact, gods and goddesses, I’m pickin’ they brains, put facts in they head, they callin’ me a cosmetologist, why the Bible similar to astrology? Prophet makin’ prophecies/

How many days the sun goin’ down on the 21st? I say, “About three,” vaccines, the mark of the beast, can’t put no chip in me, tryna break spirituality, tryna fuck up DNA and my genes/”

One of the more vocal critics of the current pandemic, NLE Choppa recently spoke out against YouTube, who reportedly removed his visual for “Paradise” due to the below, arguably controversial lyric:

“Ain’t wearin’ no mask, n***a, fuck the pilot, fake-ass coronavirus, cops killin’, startin’ riots, perception is what you decide.”

In better news, Choppa has also been practicing what he preaches in regards to helping his community. He could recently be seen in his old stomping grounds gifting children with toys and other cool stuff for the holidays.

This year alone saw NLE Choppa releasing the full-length offerings Top Shotta — his official debut LP — and From Dark To Light, two projects that best show the young rapper’s aforementioned transition. He also joined the likes of Mulatto, Lil Keed, Fivio Foreign, Polo G, Jack Harlow, Baby Keem, and more as a member of the 2020 XXL Freshman list, further solidifying his place in hip hop culture.

Press play on NLE Choppa’s “Protect” visual and — for those who missed it — his video for “Paradise” below.
