It’s only been about a month since the untimely passing of King Von, who was shot and killed in Atlanta at the age of 26. Since then, the world has continued to spin his official debut album Welcome to O’Block, a top five Billboard release that contains 16 cuts and additional appearances from Polo G, Lil Durk, Dreezy, Moneybagg Yo, and Fivio Foreign. More recently, Von’s cinematic visual for “Wayne’s Story” was released to the world, adding to the bittersweet feel of a project from someone who was just getting started.

Over the weekend, Funk Flex unearthed a collaboration with King Von titled “Lurkin,” which was produced by Grant Gardner, BMC Beats, and Flex himself. The track sees Von rapping about his life in the streets of Chicago:

“Damn, you know we ain’t squashin’ no beef, my dawg got dumped in the middle of the road, we leavin’ this shit in the streets, got some shorties outside, they lurkin’ for me/

They ain’t lurkin’ for free, got some shorties outside and they won’t go to sleep, ’cause this how they eat…/”

The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Juganot and, as Flex explains in the clip’s description, was filmed a mere two days prior to King Von’s death:

“7 months ago I hit Von in the DM, we facetime’d and sent him the track. … he finished the song in about 4 weeks. He let me know he was coming to New York for his album so i asked to shoot the vid! … 2 days later he passed. I have an interview i recorded that day but I’m not going to release it… no need.”

Fans can press play on Funk Flex and King Von’s “Lurkin” video below. Hopefully, there’s more somewhere in the vault that Von created before his unfortunate transition.
