After initially teasing the major collaboration with Rosalía on Twitter, The Weeknd has unleashed his official remix of “Blinding Lights.” The song is from his After Hours project released in back in March, which saw 14 cuts (not counting the three tracks added as part of a deluxe edition) and additional production assistance from Metro Boomin, Max Martin, Frank Dukes, Oscar Holter, and more.

The Weeknd flexed a bit of his Spanish-speaking skills earlier this year when he assisted Maluma for “Hawái (Remix).” He dropped off his visual for “Too Late,” which follows “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights,” “Until I Bleed Out,” and “In Your Eyes.” The After Hours album proved to be one of the biggest selling releases of 2020, scoring 444,000 album equivalent units during its first week of release. Despite the numbers, The Weeknd received no Grammy nominations this year, which led to him break his silence and address the award show saying it is corrupt and “You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

In a recent interview, The Weeknd opened up about “Faith,” and the deeper meaning behind the song that details a dark time in his life:

“I was getting really, really tossed up and going through a lot of personal stuff. I got arrested in Vegas [for punching a police officer; he later pleaded no contest]. It was a real rock-star era, which I’m not really proud of. You hear sirens at the end the song — that’s me in the back of the cop car, that moment. I always wanted to make that song but I never did, and this album felt like the perfect time, because [the character] is looking for an escape after a heartbreak or whatever. I wanted to be that guy again.”
