The Machine Gun Kelly we all know and love is back. Late last year, the Cleveland rapper dropped a new single titled “Why Are You Here,” the pre-cursor to his forthcoming pop punk album Tickets To My Downfall. Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 platform, he and collaborator Travis Barker revealed that the project will consist of “all singing” and “all live instruments,” leaving many to think that he would be pulling away from his hip hop roots — essentially heading in the same direction as Yelawolf and Kid Rock. Today, he puts that worry to rest, dropping off his new single “Bullets With Names,” which features assistance from Young Thug, RJMrLA, and Lil Duke.

Produced by Wonda and Ronny J, MGK lives up to his name by spitting fully automatic bars about lyrical homicide against his enemy, somewhat adopting the flow made popular by his collaborators:

“Look, I got a bullet with somebody’s name on it/

I get up on ‘em, I don’t need no aim on it/

Killed me a goat so my jacket got stains on it/

Wipin’ my nose like I got some cocaine on it/

Pulled out his coffin and ate me a plate on it/

Called up his b***h, showed my d***, let ‘em lay on it/

I’m in the trap house like Gucci and Zay on it/

I see a soda, I’m pourin’ an eight on it/”

Even with the new music, MGK — real name Colson Baker — is still very much in actor mode as well. It was recently announced that he’ll be joining Lukas Haas, Sistine Stallone and director Randall Emmett for the upcoming thriller Midnight In The Switchgrass, which is currently in production in Puerto Rico. Previously, he took on notable roles in the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt and Sandra Bullock-led runaway hit Bird Box.
