Sounds pretty immersive.

NBA 2K

These days, hip hop is becoming a preferred hobby—and sometimes even side hustle—for NBA stars, and when it is officially released in a couple of months, the latest entry into the NBA 2K franchise will feature gameplay will reflect that.

In an announcement they made today, the folks responsible for NBA 2K22 unveiled new dimensions to NBA 2K22’s gameplay, and one those includes Hidden Talents, a section that allows you to have a player you create pursue fashion or the world of hip hop. In other words, the player you create could be the next Damian Lillard. Sounds pretty dope, even if there isn’t much known about the specifics quite yet, but it is known that this option will be available for PlayStation 5 and X-Box Series X.

This news arrives about a week after it was announced that Candace Parker, Luka Doncic, Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Dirk Nowitzki would be the cover stars for NBA 2K22. Parker will be the first woman to grace an NBA 2K cover.

In a statement she made the day her cover was announced, Parker, a WNBA legend, recognized the importance of the moment.

“The cover of NBA 2K is such a pivotal platform to inspire young ballers, and I wanted future WNBA stars to know that they can be cover athletes too,” Parker said in a statement regarding the news. “Representation matters, so this is a special moment of progress for the sport and the series. To be part of this historic cover is a testament to the growth and rising popularity of the women’s game, and I’m proud to be the first female cover athlete to be the face of NBA 2K.”

For his part, Doncic said he was glad to represent his home of Slovenia on his iteration of the cover. “Making the global cover of NBA 2K22 is special for me,” Doncic said in a statement. “I’m proud to represent my country in a special cover that honors the colors of the Slovenian flag. Basketball has given me so much, and I’m excited to give back and work together with 2K Foundations this year to help the lives of young kids around the globe.”

NBA 2K22 will be released on Sept. 10. Then, fans can learn for themselves all the hip hop exploits involved in the latest 2K.
