The 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards went off without a hitch Tuesday night (Oct. 27) celebrating the genre’s biggest heavy-hitters. Despite some changes due to COVID-19, viewers were still treated to virtual performances by Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Mulatto, 2 Chainz and more for the award ceremony’s 15th annual event.

Megan Thee Stallion emerged as the leading winner of the night taking home awards in three of the eight categories she was nominated in. The Houston Hottie thanked BET for her Hustler of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration awards on Instagram.

“HipHop Artist of the year, Hustler of the year, Best collaboration,” she wrote. “LETS GO HOTTIES REAL MF HOTGIRL SHIT. thank you @bet.”

Megan’s award-winning “Savage (Remix)” also nabbed her collaborator — Beyoncé — a win for Best Collaboration and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse. Following Megan, Roddy Ricch celebrated a successful night taking home two awards. His smash-hit “The Box” was recognized as the Song of the Year, while his debut Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial was dubbed the Album of the Year.

Surprisingly, DaBaby took home zero awards, despite being nominated in 12 categories. However, the Charlotte rapper was all love on social media, posting, “Ion think Baby trippin. @bet love Baby, congrats to the winners. #WellDeserved.”

Other highlights included Lil Baby winning the Impact Track Award for his song “The Bigger Picture,” Pop Smoke’s posthumous honor as Best New Hip Hop Artist and Rapsody’s passionate acceptance speech for Lyricist of the Year.

Additionally, Master P was honored with the coveted I Am Hip Hop Award. While accepting his award, the industry titan remembered the many lives lost to police violence.

“I wanna shout out to Breonna Taylor, the George Floyds, the Jacob Blakes, Black Lives Matter,” he said. “Through this injustice will get through this.”

“Put your trust and faith in God,” he added. “… When they say you will never be nothing, you know that there’s no limit to your dreams and your success because I did it, you can do it. I’ve been in the game for over 30 years. I went from having nothing to making millions. That’s how beautiful God is. Always believe in yourself and your brand. Keep chasing your dream and your goals.”
