It looks like you can count JAY-Z as a fan of Migos’ Culture III album. Yesterday (June 11), Quavo shared a screenshot of a congratulatory text Hov sent him following the release of the album, which marks the third installment of the Culture series. In the text, Jay specifically notes “Avalanche,” which is one of the stronger tracks on the LP.

“That Avalanche song is beautiful,” reads one part of JAY-Z’s text. “Congrats to you and the guys on the album. Peace God!”

Naturally, Quavo was quick to offer up a response to the Roc Nation founder. “Thanks OG,” Quavo wrote in one part of his response text. “We Put Everything We Had Into This One.”

Laced with 19 tracks, Culture III is the culmination of a lengthy journey between the release of Culture and today. The first Culture album, which featured “Bad and Boujee,” was essentially the moment that Quavo, Offset and Takeoff became full-blown superstars. Since then, they’ve dropped the first Culture sequel and each of their own solo albums.

Now, the crew is back to putting out music as a group, and plenty of fans have had good things to say about the project. As far as “Avalanche” goes, Hov has a point. For the track, which features a sample from The Temptations’ 1972 song “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” the three artists reflect on their come-up while taking time to appreciate the space they occupy in the rap game continuum.

“Papa was a rollin’ stone, but now I got rollin’ stones in the bezel/Mama at home all alone, hustling, tryna keep this shit together/Young niggas smoking on gas, I’m living too fast, my foot on the pedal/If I go back to the past, my niggas ain’t know we’d be rocking Coachella,” Quavo raps on the opening verse for the song.

“Avalanche” is just one of the many dope new songs from Culture III. Songs like “Modern Day” will also get the chance to leave their mark on the summer. See JAY-Z’s comments about Culture III, as well as Quavo’s response, below.
