With COVID-19 continuing to spread throughout the country, many summer events have been postponed or canceled. Hot 97 has now announced that their annual Summer Jam concert has been postponed until further notice.

Ebro Darden shared the official announcement on his Instagram page. “Right now, the health of our community is our number one priority,” the statement read. “Due to the on-going COVID-19 crisis, we have made the decision to move Summer Jam to a later date. We’re looking forward to celebrating our 27th year of Summer Jam with you as soon as it is safe to do so! Please be safe, stay inside, and keep listening & follow HOT 97. We will get through this together.”

The station was not able to announce this year’s lineup. Cardi B, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Migos, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, JAY-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez and many more have blessed the Summer Jam stage with performances in previous years.

New York is considered one of the epicenters of Coronavirus in the United States. As of today (April 21), there are more than 238,000 cases reported in New York alone. There are more than 776,000 reported cases in the country altogether.

The widespread virus has also caused Coachella to move their popular festival to October. Anyone who purchased a ticket for the original April dates can use their tickets for the new dates. If you are unable to attend in October, you can request a refund.

The scheduled performers are still expected to appear for the rescheduled dates. This year’s headliners include Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine. DaBaby, Summer Walker, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Ari Lennox, Swae Lee, City Girls, Big Sean and more are also set to perform.
