With a career spanning nearly two decades, The Game is often asked to share anecdotes about his experience and give advice to aspiring rappers. In his latest attempt to offer words of wisdom to rising stars, he pulled from his observation of the current day shootings within the hip hop world and cautioned them against spending too much time outside.
“10 rappers shot & killed this year alone & niggas wanna know my advice for up & coming artists,” the Documentary emcee tweeted on Monday (Dec. 7). “STAY THE FUCK IN THE HOUSE. #Fuck2020.”
“Niggas gettin killed by iPhone apps these days,” he wrote in a later tweet.
The Game has had his share of beefs and losses over the years, but 2020 has been riddled with killings of artists that have raised his level of concern.
Pop Smoke, for instance, was shot and killed during a home invasion back in February just as his career was taking off. More recently, fellow rappers King Von, Mo3, Tripple Beanz and BandGang Paid Will lost their lives as a result of gun violence.
The Game has since turned to social media in hopes to prevent further tragedies. Last month, the “How We Do” rapper advised emcees of the younger generation to refrain from showing off their money and iced-out jewelry on the social platforms.
“Young rap niggas, stop showing off all ya money on social media,” he wrote at the time. “For every dollar you floss, it’s a hood nigga out there loading a clip for you.”
The California rapper added, “#iBeenWhereYouAtAndSurvived.”
Fortunately, The Game is not the only one to make it through tragic events. Megan Thee Stallion, Boosie and Benny the Butcher — who were also victims of shootings this year — have also survived and are alive to continue perfecting their craft.
