Ice Cube responds to Biden staffer who accused him of lying: “Release the Zoom meeting”

Earlier this week, Rep. Cedric Richmond denied Cube’s claim that Democrats wanted to wait until after the election to discuss his Contract with Black America.

Earlier this week, a member of Joe Biden’s campaign team denied Ice Cube’s claim that Democrats had wanted to delay discussions about his Contract with Black America until after the election.

“Let me be crystal clear. That did not happen,” Rep. Cedric Richmond, the co-chair of Biden’s campaign, said on SiriusXM’s “The Joe Madison Show.” “I like the fact that Ice Cube is getting engaged in policy. I think that is a good thing. However, once you embark on getting into it...you have to be truthful.”

Though Richmond claimed Cube’s contract was “not as comprehensive” as Biden’s plan for Black America, the Congressman said Democrats were willing to talk with him.

“The offer to stay engaged was not ‘we’ll talk to you after the election.’ It went like this: ‘Here’s my cell number. Anything else you want to talk about on this plan or anything you think, you know, we need to talk about further, just pick up the phone and call,’” he explained.

On Twitter, Cube disputed Richmond’s allegations, writing, “Instead of going back and forth Congressman, please release the Zoom meeting so the world can see what was said by all.”

Although Cube maintains that Democrats wanted to postpone a conversation with him, he did admit on Tuesday (Oct. 27) to turning down a Zoom call with vice presidential hopeful Kamala Harris. Appearing on Fox Soul’s “Cocktails with Queens,” Cube explained that Harris had invited him and 12 other “entertainers” on the call, which he didn’t think was “going to be productive.”

“Kamala Harris’ folks reached out to you and wanted you to be on this Zoom call because they thought your voice was important. Why did you choose to not participate in that?” one of the show’s hosts, Claudia Jordan, asked.

“We had spent a lot of people’s time putting the Contract with Black America together and I just thought that getting on a Zoom call with 12 other entertainers all shooting what they believe needs to be done — to me wasn’t going to be productive,” Cube replied, adding that his lawyer “has a connection with Kamala Harris and I was promised a call that I never received. So, that’s why I didn’t feel like I wanted to be on that Zoom call.”

The call with Sen. Harris reportedly featured D.L. Hughley, Snoop Dogg and Killer Mike. However, Cube was adamant that turning down the offer wasn’t a “mistake” because of his prior conversations with Biden’s campaign.

“When I had the Zoom call with the DNC — the Democratic Party — we was on the call for probably over 45 minutes and we never even got to the Contract with Black America,” he recalled. “We never went through any of the points that needs to be dealt with when it comes to the situation in this country.
