According to TMZ, YG was robbed thousands of dollars on New Year’s Eve—in jewelry. The West Coast rapper has reportedly filed police report claiming that jewelry pieces worth $400,000 were stolen from his hotel last Tuesday night (Dec. 31).
Law enforcement told the outlet that YG filed a police report for grand theft on Monday (Jan. 6) in Los Angeles. He’d been staying at The London West Hollywood hotel in Beverly Hills on New Year’s Eve, which is where he says his jewelry was stolen. According to the police report, YG believes the high-priced jewelry, which had been secured in a briefcase in his hotel room, was taken between 11 p.m. that night and 11 a.m. PST the next morning (Jan. 1).
YG also noted that several people had been in and out of his hotel room that night and that he’d noticed the missing pieces the next day. However, it’s unclear why he waited to file the police report until Monday (Jan. 6).
TMZ reports that while no suspects have been identified yet in the ongoing case, police plan to check surveillance footage from the hotel for their investigation. YG hasn’t commented on the robbery publicly.
According to All Events, YG spent New Year’s Eve performing at the New Year’s Eve 2020 bash at the Penthouse Nightclub in Los Angeles.
The “Go Loko” rapper spent New Year’s Day in a more reflective state, remembering his late friend Nipsey Hussle.
“Success is a blessing & all but 2019 took my brother,” he wrote on Instagram, along with a throwback photo of the two of them. “I’ll give all this shit back & some to get my ni**a backI miss you foo. THE LEGEND [Nipsey Hussle]!”
In other YG news, the rapper also started his 2020 off with an apology.
“It’s been brought to my attention that my old views on life was ignorant. i apologize to the LGBTQ kommunity for ever komin across like i was anything but respectful and accepting,” he tweeted on Jan. 1. “Live. Love. Ya Life. Gang!”
It’s unclear what prompted the apology, however some fans speculated that it was a gesture toward his ex-girlfriend Kehlani, who is bisexual.
