This Friday (September 3), Little Simz will unveil her fourth studio LP Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which comes with 19 tracks and additional features from Cleo Sol and Obongjayar. Before that day arrives, Simz decided to treat us all to a beautiful live performance of choice cuts from the album for NPR’s “Tiny Desk (Home)” series — the appearance marks Simz’s second since she personally visits NPR’s iconic set back in 2017.

Clocking in at 20 minutes, the London talent gives the viewer top tier renditions of “Introvert,” “Woman,” “I Love You, I Hate You,” and the Obongjayar-assisted “Point and Kill,” a battle cry for any weapon formed against her:

“Can’t stop greatness, what’s the point of tryin’, hard not to recognize with all this pressure we’re applyin’, tell my people ‘rise up,’ can never be silenced, we think we’re apologetic, I think we’re defiant, mommy said I gotta be a go-go-getter, got the devil tryna tell me, but I know better, never been the type to not acknowledge all the signs, it’s the fact that everything I want is in front of my eyes...”

Upon its release, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert will follow 2020’s Drop 6 EP, the latest installment of Little Simz’s Age 101 series that saw five cuts and assistance from Kal Banx, BLK VYNL, Declan Gaffney, Alewya Demmisse, and Osiris Wilson. Prior to that, Simz liberated her third album GREY Area, which boasted collaboration from Sol, Chronixx, Little Dragon, and Michael Kiwanuka over ten songs. In addition to scoring last year’s Best British Album at the NME Awards, GREY Area also helped Simz nab Best Album from the 65th Ivor Novello Awards. It’s probably a safe bet to expect the same critical acclaim from Sometimes I Might Be Introvert once it officially makes landfall.
