D Smoke returns with new “Shame On You” single
Dek
The song is a follow up to his acclaimed debut album ‘Black Habits.’

Earlier this year, D Smoke fans were able to hear his voice through singles like “Sade,” “Gaspar Yanga (Remix),” and “Basketball,” the last of which was featured on the Last Chance U official soundtrack. Today (Aug 13), the multitalented artist returns with his latest offering “Shame On You.” On the track, Smoke shows off his technical wordplay while providing a voice of reason:

You can’t put the blame on nobody but who you see when you turn candle flame on, and that window stain show reflection/ please refrain from projecting to protect you from accepting your name tarnished

Far more than the minimum, finish him, throw hands swing back like a pendulum/ Tune out that racket no Wimbledon, in a long sleeve pendleton, with a palm tree palm leaves give me shade/ Even when afraid leading brigades defending the innocent

D Smoke shared his debut album Black Habits aa little over a year ago. A few months after that, the project received a deluxe upgrade, which altogether contains 20 cuts and additional appearances from E-40, Snow Tha Product, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, blood brothers SiR and Davion Farris, and more. The album also boasted equally dope visuals for “Commas,” “Gaspar Yanga,” “Lights On,” and “It’s Ok.” The California star also blessed his fans with loose singles like “Let Go” and “Rapture,” and contributed his talents to other songs like Rapsody’s “Afeni (Remix),” Jac Ross’ “It’s OK To Be Black 2.0,” and Tobe Nwigwe’s “HEADSHOTS.”

In other notable news, D Smoke received a NAACP Image Award Nomination for Outstanding New Artist earlier this year. As a Black, bilingual rapper, musician, and CEO, Smoke utilizes his lived experiences to create music and opportunities that bridge the cultural gaps seemingly present between Black and Brown communities.
