At this point, it’s probably more than safe to say that Russ has zero qualms about letting you know who’s currently the best in the game. That’s certainly the case with his latest single “SMALL TALK,” a self-produced effort that sees the Atlanta-based talent at his most boastful:

“Run it up, run it up, yeah, that’s a motive, but mostly I’m focused on being the coldest, while being the hottest, they say I’m not modest, I say I agree, I don’t got it, I got it, I’m not sparin’ feelings, y’all want me quiet, bitch, I made millions, I’m ‘bout to go riot/”

“SMALL TALK” follow a slew of loose singles, including “Give Up,” “Throne Talks,” “Take You Back” with Kehlani, “I Love Me,” “Ugly” with Lil Baby, “Misunderstood,” and “Bankrupt.” Last year also saw Russ unveiled his third solo LP SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE, which contained 14 tracks with features from Bia, Devin The Dude, Benny The Butcher, Kiana Ledé, Bugus, and Rick Ross — a deluxe edition was later released with seven added cuts. All-in-all, SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE proved to be a success, peaking at the number four spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 63,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Following a declaration of independence, Russ then blessed the masses with CHOMP, a five-track EP with contributions from KXNG Crooked, Ab-Soul, DJ Premier, Busta Rhymes, Benny The Butcher, and Black Thought.

In a recent interview with REVOLT, Russ spoke on why ownership is so important in the music industry:

“People really need to really think, they need to realize labels have never done a show. Ever. Labels have never toured. Ever. And they are billionaires. And it’s because they own the music. So, that’s how important owning music is.”
