For a legendary name like Alicia Keys, it’s easy for your presence to stop traffic anywhere you go. In her latest video “Love Looks Better,” she does exactly that, as she makes her way down the her beloved New York City streets, trades in her fancy dress for some jeans and Timbs, and performs and impromptu concert on top of a parked truck.

“Love Looks Better” was released ahead of ALICIA earlier this month and arrived with a debut that’s only fitting for the Grammy Award-winning singer herself. Alicia opened up the 2020 NFL season on Sept. 10 with a performance of the song, which came alongside an announcement of a $1 billion commitment from the NFL toward supporting Black businesses and communities. The track was co-produced by OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.

Prior to its release, fans were able to enjoy numerous cuts from ALICIA while waiting, including “Good Job,” “Perfect Way To Die,” “Time Machine,” “Underdog,” and the Miguel-assisted “Show Me Love.” After the new album was officially out, Alicia Keys shared a visualizer for “Wasted Energy” featuring Diamond Platinumz, and also premiered a performance version of “3 Hour Drive” with SiR via COLORS. Back in June, Alicia Keys went head-to-head with fellow R&B icon John Legend in a Verzuz battle to close out the evening on Juneteenth.

In a recent interview, Alicia shares more about her decision to perform “Love Looks Better” in order to push social change:

“We are already seeing the blatant injustices that are going on around us. As an artist, I’m always thinking about how can I use my platform to further racial equity. This fund is one of the answers and our goal is to empower Black America through investing in Black businesses, Black investors, institutions, entrepreneurs, schools and banks in a way to create sustainable solutions.”
