Over the weekend, Future and Lil Uzi Vert got their fans excited by promoting what looks to be a new collaborative project from the two. Calling themselves PLUTO x BABY PLUTO, the artists also revealed a couple of mysterious trailers directed by the legendary Hype Williams, which show the rappers talking current events at a laundromat and liquor store. Now, the world gets to check out two new singles from Future and Uzi titled “Patek,” produced by Starboy and Brandon Finessin, and “Over Your Head,” produced by D. Hill. The release of the hard-hitting cuts also coincided with Lil Uzi Vert’s 26th birthday.
While both tracks contain the usual subject matter that’s expected from Future and Uzi, “Over Your Head” also speaks to the various women that the hip hop stars come across throughout their respective careers:
“Everything I said went right over your head, your head, went right over your head, she keep tryna text me, leave her messages on read, on read, leave ‘em on read/
F*** it off and end up with your best friend instead, instead, your best friend instead, I just spent three million dollars, they fell in her bed, in her bed, they fell in her bed
I don’t understand why they don’t understand why they not hot as me, I can switch it up in a blink of an eye, so you can’t copy me.../”
Prior to the release of “Patek” and “Over Your Head,” both Future and Lil Uzi Vert delivered chart-topping solo albums of their own — Uzi dropped the long-awaited Eternal Atake in March, while Future surprised the masses with High Off Life two months later. Both have also collaborated several times in the past, creating magic on songs like “All Bad,” “Wassup,” DJ ESCO’s “Too Much Sauce,” and A$AP Ferg’s “New Level (Remix).”
