After just two and a half years, the SoundCloud aggressive and depressive rap explosion has already entered its post phase. The death of its polarizing leader XXXTENTACION, coupled with the growing commercialization of other stars has left the once prominent scene disjointed from the raw wildness of its early punk influence.

Some notable names though never needed to rely on the unleashed energy to find an audience, as is the case with Wifisfuneral. The South Florida rapper set himself apart from the majority of his counterparts with his rapid catchy flow and higher tier technical ability. With this in mind, Wifisfuneral drops off his debut studio album Pain?

For the album’s announcement a few days ago via Twitter, the young rapper made sure to inform his fans on what to expect while listening: “Put a lot of literal blood sweat and tears to this. Took me 2 Years to not come up with the songs. But to literally make you feel every word I say song for song. Overall I hope you enjoy and dance to my pain once more.”

Recently, Wifisfuneral announced his retirement from rap in an abrupt manner that left his fans angry, sad and worried. In this case (much like Nicki Minaj “retiring” and then joining Doja Cat on “Say So”or Young Dolph “retiring” and then dropping a full length project), Wifi merely pulled a pump fake.

Executive produced by Vice FNF, the album consists of 14 records featuring Coi Leray, Smoove’L and Mariah Angeliq. In a recent sit-down with Hip Hop DX, Wifi detailed his late friend’s (XXXTentacion) strangest habit — his ability to go days without eating or speaking:

I think him being so quiet because he would be loud and abrupt — but, you could tell that that was kind of a disguise from what he was actually kind of going through, you know what I mean? There’s times where I would find him just quiet as fuck. And it’d be the scariest shit ever. Just from sunrise to sundown, quiet. Won’t say a word, won’t speak a word, won’t eat food, won’t go outside to smoke a cigarette. Nothing, nothing at all.”

With the release of Pain?, we believe that XXX would be very proud of his friend and the greater things coming to him in the near future. Stream the album below and tweet us your thoughts!
