Since he stepped on the scene back in 2012, Chicago artist Chief Keef has been responsible for a number of memorable hits over the years. Hard-hitting records like “I Hate Being Sober,” “Don’t Like,” “Love Sosa, “Understand Me,” and “3 Hunna” serve as a small piece of Keef’s infectious catalog. Without a doubt, it’s proven that the young rapper has been an influence on a number of young artists today (even if no one says it, the proof is in the pudding).

To contribute to his already cemented legacy, the Chicago rapper joins forces with notable producer Mike Will Made-It to feed the streets with their new single “Bang Bang.”

During the project’s announcement Thursday afternoon, Mike Will took to Twitter to inform us that he “has Chief Keef in his bag” and that their latest effort was 74% complete. Sosa is known to collaborate with upper echelon producers like Zaytoven and others and it was only a matter of time until he linked up with the Ear Drummer himself. It’s been about three months since the release of his last EP Extra Glo and the fans have been wanting more so Bang Bang has arrived right on time to fulfill a lot of wishes.

Having such a big impact on mainstream rap, while simultaneously rejecting the machine, Keef is nothing short of legendary. Instead of lamenting what could have been, the GBE front-man should be championed for who he is today — self assured in an era when everyone else is chasing validation. His career is a case study in reevaluating how we perceive music industry success, especially for Black artists.

Chief Keef and Mike Will Made-It just proved that they’re a force to be reckoned with and this is only the beginning of what the two have in store for us in the future (hopefully). Stream “Bang Bang” below and tweet us your thoughts.
