Back in 2019, Big K.R.I.T. delivered what many would consider his fourth studio LP K.R.I.T. Iz Here, which saw 19 new tracks and features from Lil Wayne, Saweetie, J. Cole, Yella Beezy, Baby Rose, and more. Two days ago (July 12), he celebrated the project’s one-year anniversary with a short film, which featured quick run-throughs of album cuts like “Make It Easy,” “I Been Waitin,” “Blue Flame Ballet,” “Outer Space,” and “Everytime,” The clip also shows the Mississippi star performing these songs in different locations, including in his car, out in a field, and off-screen while an exotic dancer practices her art. One standout from the short film is during his performance of “Believe,” which sees him in church while flanked by wing-wearing children — a perfect visualization of the song’s powerful subject matter:

“Believing, believing.... That what I been saying ain’t over they heads, people don’t only give flowers to dead, all the police ain’t been tryin’ to kill us/

All the medicine is bound to heal us, it was really help they tried to give us, all this drankin’ ain’t gon’ fail my liver, I’ma live to be a father figure/

Better than my father ever figured, all these rappers really rappin’ ‘bout it, really saving people, really giving back/

All the pastors in the churches talking to the Lord, tell Him where we at.../”

In a past interview with REVOLT, Big K.R.I.T. spoke on “how spiritual and sacred the act of creating” music is to him:

“I think creating is sacred, and something we all have the capacity to do in whatever manner we want. We all have a canvas we can paint on in life. It’s our art form. As long as you believe in it, that’s really all that matters at the end of the day. That’s really what I’ve been trying to tell people the entire time with the music.”
