DaBaby’s Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment and video production team Reel Goats have gone hand-in-hand since the former’s rise to fame, and both have continued to push the boundaries of hip hop in their respective crafts. For their latest collaboration, DaBaby liberates a cinematic visual for his latest chart-topper “Rockstar,” which features Roddy Ricch and sees the two harmonizing about living the rock and roll lifestyle in the world of hip hop:

“Brand new Lamborghini, f*** a cop car, with the pistol on my hip like I’m a cop/

Have you ever met a real n***a rockstar? This ain’t no guitar, b***h, this a Glock/

My Glock told me to promise you gon’ squeeze me, you better let me go the day you need me/

Soon as you up me on that n***a, get to bustin’, and if I ain’t enough, go get the chop/”

The video seems to be inspired by the longstanding action-horror series “The Walking Dead,” as DaBaby and Roddy Ricch can be seen heavily armed in the middle of nowhere, fighting against an army of zombies. In another scene, they’re performing the track while surrounded by zombies playing guitars, with the song’s producer SethInTheKitchen plays the piano, making one of the weirder moments in the high-end clip.

In addition to the “Rockstar” video, DaBaby and Roddy Ricch also recently appeared on this weekend’s BET Awards to perform the remix of the track, which features an additional verse from DaBaby in support of the Black Live Matter movement. During the performance of said verse, the rapper could be seen on the ground while a cop held his knee on his neck — a direct reference to George Floyd’s arrest in Minneapolis.
