DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s collaborated single “Rockstar” has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The “Suge” rapper celebrated the news on Instagram.

“That was a quick one,” he captioned the post. “#RockStar Certified PLATINUM. Featuring my boy @roddyricch. GOD IS GREAT.” The song currently sits at the No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 after spending five weeks on the chart. The single also tops Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Songs Chart.

The Charlotte native recently released his sophomore album, Blame It On Baby. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The LP featured appearances by Future, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Ashanti, Megan Thee Stallion, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Quavo and more.

During a recent interview with Beats 1, DaBaby explained how the track came together.

“We did this before [quarantine],” he said. “Roddy really reached out to me to work with me, let me know he was rockin’ with my music maybe over a year ago. This was when I had just got through the door-type, so I was a thousand miles runnin’. I really missed it when he hit me… I was in LA when he had a week off. I had some time off, I was out in LA and linked with him while I was out there.”

He continued, “And we cooked a few of ‘em, we got a couple of ‘em. We was in there until like six in the morning… There was daylight when we came out the studio. There’s only a few artists that I could do that with creatively, but he’s definitely one of them. He’s gonna be around for a long time.”

DaBaby is already planning to drop another project before the end of this year. “You asking if I’m gonna drop another album?” he asked Ebro Darden last month. “Damn right. Definitely, definitely, for sure. I can’t not do that. I gotta put out more.”

Congratulations to both artists on their huge achievement.
