Last month, Ty Dolla $ign released his third studio album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, which sees a hefty 25 tracks and, as the title presumably makes light of, a wealth of contributions from Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Quavo, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Roddy Ricch, Jhené Aiko, Kehlani, Future, Young Thug, and many more. This week, the Los Angeles star liberates a new visual for “Spicy,” a collaboration with Post Malone that sees production from Westen Weiss, damn james!, and Ty Dolla himself. As with much of his music, Ty$ and his counterpart sing about their well-publicized debaucherous lifestyles:
“Who tryna, who tryna go? Who n***a hope that she don’t? Who tryna slide for the night? Who tryna wife her? Not I, know my name, say my name, yellow diamonds on my chain, lemonade/
I can never be your main, but tell your man, you gon’ have to call him back another time, girl, let’s get high and vibe, go up, get loud, get right here and now, yeah, tell me.../”
The visual comes courtesy of James Larese and is a short film that seems to take inspiration from classics like Desperado and Wild Wild West. Narrated by Snoop Dogg, cowboy Ty Dolla is seen recovering from an ambush by his enemies, who took his money, clothes, and girl. Tracking the bad guys down at a saloon, Ty$ is able to take them down — with the help of Post Malone — and ride off into the sunset with his lover.
“Spicy” follows previously released visuals from Featuring Ty Dolla $ign for “Expensive,” “Ego Death,” and “Nothing Like Your Exes.” In addition to his own work, the Taylor Gang star has also assisted on dope cuts by Wiz Khalifa, Brandy, Trey Songz, dvsn, SZA, 2 Chainz, and more.
