Back in May, Deante Hitchcock unleashed his album BETTER. The Atlanta rapper is gearing up to release the deluxe version of his project, and just shared the first two cuts off it today: “Text Me” featuring Ro James and “Déjà Vu” featuring Guapdad 4000. In the latter, Deante goes off on a reflective verse about past relations:

“It’s never the type to test the waters, we ended up in a situationship, okay. Fallin’ in love is bad for your health, cap. That shit a jugg. How can I be good for you baby, I’m bad for myself? Had to stop gettin’ high to deal with the lows, I feel like the drugs can help. Couldn’t cry if I wanted to, I’m paralyzed but baby I know what I felt, if I don’t really know nothin’ else. Yeah, you know I want that old thing back.”

The BETTER project included guest features from names like JID, Young Nudy, 6LACK, Miguel, and St. Beauty. The original version will now double in length as Deante unveils the deluxe version, which will be a two-disc project (20-tracks long) with additional features from Kenny Mason, Reason, Ro James, Jaelspeaks, and Guapdad 4000. Before that, Hitchcock dropped off his projects Just A Sample 2 and Good in 2019 and 2016, respectively.

Guapdad 4000 shared his Dior Deposits project back in 2019, which included a lengthy list of guest appearances including names like Maxo Kream, Denzel Curry, Slimmy B. G-Eazy, and more. The project was led by his “Gucci Pajamas” single with Chance the Rapper and the legendary Charlie Wilson.

In an interview with REVOLT from earlier this year, Deante Hitchcock touched on how the conversation before features usually goes, explaining it’s almost never initially just about the music itself:

Most of the time when we talk to each other, it isn’t on some music s**t. We’re just checking in on each other to see how everyone is doing and s**t. When it comes to music, it’s no thang. If Guapdad [4000] sends me a verse, he know I’ll have it to him by the end of the week. We’re real patnas first and we just be talking patna’ s**t like everybody else.”
