Last month, the DMV’s very own Shy Glizzy delivered his newest project Young Jefe 3. Since then, we’ve seen visuals from the album for “Forever Tre-7” featuring No Savage an also the album’s intro “Double 00.” The rapper’s newest offering is this week’s video “Slide Over” featuring Taliban Glizzy. Over the Trama Tone and Zaytoven co-produced beat, Shy raps about violence in his home city:

“And girl, when we pop them pills, we be doin’ sh*t we can’t erase. I’m from DC, where it get very violent. B**ch, I be with 3 (3 Murder), just like Allen Iverson. You can’t f**k with me so don’t f**kin’ try. B**ch, I’m big Glizzy , I’ma f**kin’ giant. These n****s in the way, tell ‘em slide over. I’m in my monster truck today, b**ch, I’m gon’ ride over.”

Prior to “Slide Over” and the new project release, Jefe linked up with Lil Uzi Vert for their collab single “Right or Wrong,” which dropped back on June 18. In 2019, he released two projects: the Aloha EP and his Covered N Blood album. The latter project includes features from YoungBoy Never Broke Again and 3Glizzy.

In an interview with REVOLT, the DMV rapper shared his reasoning behind why he chose to stay independent:

“The freedom I have, the leadership I preach about and the ownership, as well. That’s really important to me. To be the leader of my own brand and have my own label, to coach the youths who are coming from my area and different parts of the struggle or wherever they may come from. Even if I come across the next Justin Bieber, I’m looking to expand my brand in those ways. For me having so much freedom in this situation, there’s no way I could lose because I’m in control of my own destiny.”
