Currently, Rod Wave is sailing off the release of his sophomore release Pray 4 Love, which was released this past April and sees 14 tracks from the St. Petersburg, Florida star. That album has since earned Rod Wave the number two spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to an impressive 72,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Looking to continue its momentum, August saw a deluxe version of Pray 4 Love, which added 11 cuts to the overall project, including the tracks “Sack Right” with Yo Gotti and “Rags2Riches 2” with Lil Baby and ATR Son Son.

Now, Rod Wave is back with an inspirational new single titled “Shooting Star,” which begins with a conversation with his mother before segueing into bars about working hard to maintain his success and using past struggles to motivate his progress:

“I’m focused on my grind, nevеrmind all that stupid stuff, n***as act like b***hes, need to quit it with that groupie stuff, Rod out his body in a party whеn his tooly tucked, I was on the four now I’m on five, Jon boot me up/

Just woke up to some millions, I’m on like a b***h, my lil’ sisters and my lil’ daughters never wantin’ for s***, I was just walkin’ to the corner store, broke as a b***h, chillin’ on north side with Trayvon tryna poke us some s***/”

Pray 4 Love follows 2019’s Ghetto Gospel, which saw 14 tracks and assists from Kevin Gates and Lil Durk. In addition to the aforementioned releases, Rod Wave recently joined the likes of Lil Keed, Jack Harlow, Mulatto, Polo G, Fivio Foreign, and NLE Choppa as this year’s XXL Freshman class, further cementing his position as one of the hottest artists in hip hop.
