Key Takeaways

We’re sending love and support to Megan Thee Stallion, who was taken to a hospital after becoming ill during a performance of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway.

In a statement obtained by Variety, a spokesperson for the Grammy-winning rapper explained, “During Tuesday (March 31) night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.” They continued, “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

According to TMZ, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded to a call from the theater about “a person who was having trouble breathing.” Based on what’s been reported so far, they didn’t seem to confirm whether it was Megan.

The unfortunate news arrived just one week after the “Savage” artist made her Broadway debut. Further details about her condition have not yet been released. On Wednesday (April 1) morning, the “Moulin Rouge!” website revealed that she would be replaced for the production’s scheduled performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

In February, Megan announced that she’d be performing on Broadway from March 24 to May 17. Scroll down for everything else we know so far.

What are witnesses and Megan Thee Stallion’s team saying?

Aside from Megan’s rep speaking out, many people on social media first learned about the situation from her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck. He wrote on X, “Everyone, say a prayer for Megan. We are all at the hospital,” alongside a prayer hands emoji.

Meanwhile, “The Breakfast Club” co-host Lauren LoRosa, who said she was in attendance, shared that Megan “was great on stage,” even if her time in Tuesday’s production ended up being “short-lived.”

She tweeted, "They just stopped “Moulin Rouge!” mid-show, apologized to the audience, and said, ‘Stay inside and seated.’ I asked security if we’re safe. They told us, ‘For now, we’ll update you if anything changes.’” LoRosa later noted that the Houston native was replaced by a male actor.

As REVOLT reported in February, Megan said it was an “absolute honor” to join the “Moulin Rouge!” team. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace,” she shared in a press statement.

“Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me,” the Good News creator added. Calling it one of the musical’s “biggest announcements,” producer Carmen Pavlovic also told fans the show’s score would include a “hint of music from her own iconic catalogue.”

Between her Dunkin’ partnership, opening her first Popeyes restaurant, and appearing in NBC’s “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” 2026 has been a big year for Megan overall. We’re sending her well wishes and hoping she makes a speedy recovery.
