Jill Scott became a trending topic on Twitter Tuesday evening (Jan. 4) after one user claimed the Woman singer has a sex tape floating around the world wide web.

Jill Scott sex tape? Somebody link me please,” the individual tweeted, setting off a firestorm of reactions.

Into Tuesday night and throughout Wednesday (Jan. 5), fans shared tweets, GIFs and videos about their desperate attempts to track down the alleged tape.

Jill Scott gotta sex tape?????” one Twitter user wrote.

“N****s out here down bad tryna find this Jill Scott tape…” another wrote.

Scott herself finally got word of the commotion and responded to the viral Twitter storm on Wednesday.

“Say word!?!” the songstress joked, sharing a GIF of herself.

“I expect this energy when my new movies, albums and tv show drop,” she continued. “Ya’ll too much. #headedbacktowork #hydrate.”

Scott emerged as a Verzuz phenomenon in 2020 after going head-to-head on the virtual battle series against neo soul queen Erykah Badu. However, Scott explained before and after the event, her and Badu’s Verzuz showdown was more of a “celebration” of each other’s discographies than a traditional “battle.”

“I didn’t like the ‘battle’ energy of [Verzuz], that kind turned me off,” she told Big Tigger on RADIO.com and V-103 days after the event. “I don’t want fight. I didn’t like that ‘battle’ stuff, so I let it go. Then, I get a call from Erykah. She was like, ‘Yo, they wanna do this battle, this Verzuz.’ Like, it sounds like it could be good, the energy just has to be right. She said, ‘What if we celebrate each other?’ I said, ‘That’s what I’m talking about!’ Celebrate each other.”

“You don’t last this long and want to destroy others,” Scott added.
