In the wake of Betty White’s passing, fans and celebrities took to social media to send their condolences and share tributes to the “Golden Girls” actress.

As REVOLT previously reported, White passed away at the age of 99 on Friday morning (Dec. 31) at her home. Her death comes just days shy of her 100th birthday, which would have been on Jan. 17, 2022. According to TMZ, the Emmy Award-winning actress did not die from a sudden illness or disease. She is believed to have died of natural causes. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, she reportedly rarely left her home.

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” her close friend and agent Jeff Witjas said in a statement to People. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”

Following the news of White’s passing, Ellen DeGeneres took to Twitter to mourn her loss. “What an exceptional life,” the TV show host tweeted. “I’m grateful for every second I got to spend with Betty White. Sending love to her family, friends and all of us.”

Betty White transcended generation,” tweeted writer Charlotte Clymer. “She was an entertainer well-known and respected and loved by everyone, regardless of age. That, alone, is a remarkable achievement for someone whose life spanned eighteen presidential administrations.”

Netflix worker Jarett Wieselman wrote, “Betty White was an icon, a legend, and consistently found a way to be the moment over her nearly 70-year career. A trailblazer. An original. And a truly kind soul. May she be forever surrounded by four-legged animals in heaven.”

Former “Reading Rainbow” host LeVar Burton tweeted, “Y’all, with the passing of #BettyWhite we have lost one of the best humans ever!”
