ABC’s new hip-hop musical series “Queens” officially premiered a few weeks ago, which sees Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez become the fictional group Nasty Bitches, a hip-hop group from the 90’s who reunite for a second chance at fame. To date, we’ve received quite a few visuals for fans to enjoy, including “I’m That Chick,” “Nasty Girl,” “The Introduction” “Hear Me,” “Wrecking Ball,” and “Heart of Queens,” a collaboration with rapper and costar Cam’ron.
Today (Jan. 5), the “Queens” cast presents the latest official visual from the show. In the freshly released “Lady Z Strikes Back,” fans are able to see new co-star Remy Ma take the attention. The new visual kicks off with Remy in her zone in the studio:
I still have dreams of being on top but I’m from where bottom is/ I’m really the mother of this and I even gotta kid yeah I bag groceries and I ain’t really proud of it but I chose silence over violence/ And that was the consequence, ain’t wanna get into it, that’s why I got out of it
I got a pile of talent but the game is all politics/ I don’t honor it I’m positive ’bout what the problem is/ The music biz is ran by some narcissistic misogynists
Created by Zahir McGee, all the original music in “Queens” is performed by the show’s stars at the direction of executive producer Swizz Beatz. In terms of the show’s storyline, after their popularity skyrocketed with the success of their chart-topping single, the aforementioned “Nasty Girl,” they were once regarded as one of the greatest girl groups of their generation. Despite critical and commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflict and jealousy.
