Earlier this month, Mary J. Blige made a big return with the new singles “Good Morning Gorgeous” and “Amazing,” the latter of which includes the stylings of DJ Khaled. Yesterday (Dec. 21), the R&B legend unveiled a new visual for “Amazing,” which sees production from Khaled, Tarik Azzouz, and STREETRUNNER and acts as an ode to celebrating life despite its struggles:
“I feel too wavy, you can’t save me, I meditate on the daily to keep sane, I mean, I’m goin’ out my mind, I’m goin’ crazy, I think it might be my season, I’m elevated, ay, every day like my birthday, bring the cake in, bring the cake in, bring the cake in, I feel good, I feel great, man, I feel amazing, man, I feel amazing, man, I feel amazing, every day, cеlebrate, not just on occasion, on occasion, not just on occasion, I feel good, I feel great, man, I feel amazing, feel amazing, man, I feel amazing…”
Directed by Eif Rivera, the accompanying clip for “Amazing” sees Mary and Khaled throwing a lavish party at a palatial residence somewhere in warm weather (Miami, perhaps). With a high-end function comes plenty of A-level guests, and “Amazing” is full of them — N.O.R.E., Trina, Angie Martinez, Misa Hilton-Brim, and even Diddy makes noted cameos throughout.
It’s been four years since Mary liberated her thirteenth studio album Strength of a Woman, which contained 14 tracks and additional contributions from Kanye West, Khaled, Quavo, Missy Elliott, KAYTRANADA, and Prince Charlez. That album was a top five success on the Billboard 200, thanks to 78,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.
