This week, 2KBABY has officially unveiled his brand new full-length project First Quarter. The project boasts features from Chief Keef, DDG, Mozzy, and Kaash Paige. To commemorate the release, 2K also shared the video for album cut “Postman,” which pairs a vintage sample of The Carpenters with massive 808s and a love story:
They say I look just like my mama, but I get to start tripping and act like my papa/ I put a whole lot in this chopper or I might just sit back, make a call to my shotter/ I go hard in the paint like I’m Waka, all you n***as be smoking that flakka
Tell her throw it with no hands, Waka Flocka, she wanna romance ’cause I got lot of dollars, go through this shit day to day/ Out the hood, give a fuck what a hater say, I been good ’cause they know that I paved the way
Leading up to the release, the Louisville rapper presented his introspective single “Luigi” featuring Chicago legend Chief Keef. The track also arrived with a striking video directed by Jay Pusha, which features a harrowing trip to the hospital and a chaotic bank robbery.
After releasing his acclaimed 2020 EP Pregame Rituals—featuring his RIAA Gold-certified hit “Old Streets”— he’s been broadening his sound and range of collaborators. First Quarter follows 2KBABY’s recent singles “Zack & Cody” with DDG, and the anthemic “Great White.” Earlier this year, he also put out “Like This,” a collaboration wit esteemed EDM and pop producer Marshmello. In January, 2KBABY released the two-track package, THE 2K STIMULUS. It’s been a productive year since he touched down with the aforementioned debut EP Pregame Rituals. That project included a feature from G Herbo, as well as his RIAA Gold-certified hit, “Old Streets.”
Be sure to tune into 2KBABY’s brand new project First Quarter.
