Come September 17, RAY BLK will liberate her debut studio LP Access Denied, which will see 14 tracks and additional features from Kojey Radical, Stefflon Don, and more. Taking to social media, the British songstress explained the album’s title:
“Access Denied is for those who like myself, know disappointment too well and have learned to put up walls as a coping mechanism for self protection. I’ve opened up about how my childhood made me guarded, how disappointing relationships made me fear love and how being told no so many times in the music industry kicked me down but I got back up!”
In addition to the big announcement, RAY BLK also blessed her fans with a single from said project titled “MIA,” which features an assist from Kaash Paige and follows the well-received drops “Lovesick,” “Dark Skinned,” and “Games” with fellow South Londoner Giggs. Produced by ADP, “MIA” sees the two singing about getting away for a secret vacay with their respective lovers:
“Running off, we MIA, they don’t need to know, no, no, MIA, we off this grid for sure, location stays unknown, we ride, we stay on the low, MIA…”
Upon its release, Access Denied will follow the breakout EPs Durt and Empress, which were released in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In addition to her own releases, RAY BLK could also be heard on tracks like Gorillaz’s “The Apprentice,” Dan Caplen’s “Flat Champagne,” Tinie Tempah’s “Not For The Radio,” RAYE’s “Crew,” Nines’ “Rubber Bands,” and Rudimental’s “Scared of Love.”
