When the clock strikes midnight (Nov. 18), French Montana will unveil his fourth studio LP They Got Amnesia, which will contain 21 tracks and additional features from Rick Ross, Kodak Black, Pop Smoke, Lil Durk, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Fivio Foreign, 42 Dugg, and more. Unfortunately, one particular song from the initial tracklist — the Drake-assisted “Splash Brothers” — appears to have been removed from said album. According to TMZ, Drake felt that the timing wasn’t right given the recent Astroworld tragedy, and fans can expect the collaboration to appear on a deluxe version of They Got Amnesia at some point in the future.
In promotion of his forthcoming body of work, French made an appearance on DJ sourMILK and Justin Credible’s L.A. Leakers radio show, where he decided to bless listeners with a barrage of freestyles over some top tier instrumentals. The first sets of bars, delivered over Drake’s Certified Lover Boy standout “No Friends In The Industry,” quickly reminded those who forgot about French’s lyrical abilities in the midst of his many hits:
“I wasn’t born rich, this that growth and hustle, and you appreciate ‘em all when you know the struggle, H.N.I.C. like Prodigy from 40th, sporty V, with a pigeon like sporty thieves, yeah, I talk and live it, yeah, I had to hit it, even though she got five kids, her stomach knitted, back when Gucci charged me 5K for a verse, I asked for my money back and still used the verse…”
