Back in September, CASISDEAD made a big return to the proverbial fold with the La Roux-backed “Park Assist,” his first since previously released drops like “Pat Earrings,” “Sugar Free,” and “Drive You Home” dropped three years prior. Yesterday (Nov. 8), the masked emcee keeps the momentum going with “Boys Will Be Boys,” which tells the story of a woman who seems well on the surface yet struggles to deal with the ups and downs of the chaotic entertainment industry:
“Standing there starkers, making it hard to leave, run it’s course, she can’t believe, feelings harboured deep, woman crush for half the scene, things aren’t what they seem, shattered heart still on her sleeve, scarred from our deceit, discarded card receipts, black tank, khaki seats, tints dark, can hardly see, parties, hardly sleeps, she’s suffering from fatigue, in love like every week…”
Once again connecting with Game Of Thrones actor Ed Skrein as the director, the accompanying clip for the Felix Joseph-produced number is centered around the famous celebrity Megan Madsen, played by Hollyoaks actress Emma Rigby — the short film was preceded by the launch of CAS’ Deadcorp.TV network. The video shows Madsen making her way to a star-studded event, complete with paparazzi and fans waiting outside. At some point, all of the hoopla triggers a mental breakdown (complete with gruesome consequences), before it’s realized that it’s all in her head.
Back in 2013, the man formerly known as Castro released the critically-acclaimed body of work The Number 23, which saw 18 songs and notable contributions from Jme, The Purist, Merky ACE, Sheg Nasa, Roska, and Faze Miyake. Given the release of “Park Assist” and “Boys Will Be Boys,” it’s hopeful that an official debut album lies somewhere on the horizon.
