Back in January, Asiahn shared her The Interlude EP and a few months afterwards she took it a step further by sharing live renditions of each song on the project. She then returned to present her single “Fall Back,” and this week swiftly followed that up with the freshly released “We Can.” The track is fun, fierce, and it’s punctuated by two interludes from Eartha Kitt, who talks about love and compromise and falling for oneself first and foremost. On the song, Asiahn wants to let loose for the night:
You can’t play with my emotions ’cause they’re paper-thin, don’t take me too serious ’cause I won’t let you in, oh-oh/ We got a vibe, yeah I don’t take it light, yeah, stay with me for the night, yeah/ Relax and just get high, get high off me/ Are you here for love or a season?
Talking all that shit for no reason, you either wanna fuck or you leaving/ I could be yours for the weekend, weekend, weekend/ I bet you thought you’d take my heart and run away with it, but, baby, no-no, no/ Don’t got permission to fall in love with meUnlеss I tell you so, oh
Asiahn is known for penning hits for massive stars like Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Dr. Dre. The aforementioned short and sweet The Interlude EP includes five tracks and features from Grandmaster Vic and Jordan Hawkins, clocking in at just under 13 minutes. The project follows her two installments of her Love Train series. The timing of the EP coincides with her healing journey.
In other notable news: Asiahn also plays the title character in the recently released Netflix animated series, Karma’s World, created by Ludacris. The show tells “the story of a girl finding her voice and using it to change the world.”
Be sure to press play on Asiahn’s brand new single “We Can.”
