The late MF DOOM will be honored this Halloween with his own DOOMSDAY event. On Tuesday (Oct. 19), the beloved rapper and producer’s estate took to his Instagram account to announce DOOMSDAY — a daytime, outdoor tribute event that will take place on Oct. 31 in San Francisco, CA.
According to the post, the event will feature “30-plus artists” offering “DOOM-inspired art objects.” “Supervillain specialist soundtracks” are also promised.
As an added bonus, 50 percent of all profits from said “DOOM-inspired” art pieces will go to benefit the underground rap icon’s estate. The event is being put on in partnership with City Station, an “outdoor community” located in San Francisco’s Mission District.
The post also includes the extensive list of artists whose work will be featured as well as the DJs who are scheduled to perform. DOOMSDAY will kick off at 12 p.m. PST and wrap up at 5 p.m. at 701 Valencia St.
“The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for,” DOOM’s wife Jasmine wrote at the time. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.”
“Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be,” she added. “My world will never be the same without you.”
After the news broke; fans, producers and rappers around the world reflected on DOOM’s influence. This August, the city council in Long Beach, New York renamed a city street “KMD – MF DOOM Way” in his honor.
