There are many rappers in this generation, but Fat Joe believes DaBaby’s rap career is most like that of the late Tupac Shakur. While sitting with Big Tigger for “Rap City ‘21,” Joey Crack was asked to participate in a game where he named the current day versions of some legendary rap stars. “Man, I hope I can do this,” he responded. “But let’s go.”

Amid the challenge, Joe said that Kendrick Lamar was today’s JAY-Z, shared his belief that Rod Wave is the E-40 of this generation “because they’re both big boys” and admitted that he didn’t have a match for MC Hammer.

At the mention of Lauryn Hill, he turned down Tigger’s suggestions that Summer Walker was a potential response. “But Lauryn Hill rap and she better than most..,” he reasoned. “She’s probably #1 female rapper of all time, and she sings. You know what I’m saying, so she goated.”

Fat Joe even named his replacement, noting that Gorilla Nems, an underground rapper from New York, “is crazy.” “When I see him, I see me,” he added. When Tigger brought up Tupac, the “Lean Back” emcee thought for a moment before he answered, “DaBaby.” He provided no explanation for his reasoning but received a response from the “Suge” emcee, who was in consonance with the comparison. “Agreed,” DaBaby commented under a video of the interview. “But they gonna salt that down to Crack.”

Fat Joe was one of many guests who appeared on the one-night special “Rap City ‘21,” a modern-day version of the popular video countdown “Rap City.” It aired ahead of the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards and saw Tigger speaking with Jermaine Dupri, with whom he discussed a potential Verzuz battle with P. Diddy and his current relationship with Latto, who won the first season of his competition show “The Rap Game.” He also conversed with Jeezy and Tobe Nwigwe.
