NSG kept us entertained during last year’s quarantine with Roots, which contained 18 cuts with additional assists from Chip, Tion Wayne, and Randy Valentine — one of the project’s standouts, the Legendury Beatz-produced “dRuNk gUiTaR,” later saw a remix alongside Potter Payper. More recently, the Nigeria and Ghana-to-London collective have continued their momentum with loose singles like “Kate Winslet” with Unknown T, “After OT Bop” with BackRoad Gee, and “Colonization,” a more aggressive tune that saw a cinematic triller of a visual to match.

Just last week (August 12), NSG dropped off “Petite,” a beautifully laid back vibe that sees the artists harmonizing about women, money, and the opposition over production from JAE5:

“Came from the bottom, had to stack my pence, never goin’ broke, that’s common sense, with bro, bring a ratchet friend, rollin’ with smoke, just in case of nonsense, in this life they’d rather see me down, oh, that’s why I wake up, thank God, oh, look around, many rivals, have to bun man’s flesh for survival, who’s that +234? That’s my Naij babe, never seen you before, how you my mate?”

Those that have seen the aforementioned clip for “Colonization” will remember scenes reminiscent of “Top Boy,” with the group being shown working to feed their loved ones in the midst of peril and struggle. The Kevin Hudson and Kruddz-directed “Petite” starts off with a direct recap of that video’s ending, before moving to a live party complete with drinks and beautiful women. Throughout, viewers also see a man that’s clearly up to no good, who — along with a female accomplice — accosts Mxjib while he’s off guard in a bedroom. Given the “to be continued” notice, fans can expect much more from this plot to unfold down the line.

In the meantime, check out NSG’s “Petite” video.
