Russ gets back from the motherland in new “Italy” single

The weekly drops continue.

Russ never misses a beat when it comes to his weekly drops, and his latest one is a reminder that these consistent tracks serve as good check-ins about where he’s currently at in life. After providing plenty of cuts like “Fate” “Bankrupt,” “Small Talk,” “Status,” “3:15 (Breathe),” “Private” with Rexx Life Raj, and “Money On Me,” the multi-talented artist shares another one of his weekly singles today (Aug 6). On the new track “Italy,” he reflects on his home country while weaving in some flexes:

I just got back from the motherland, I just ran up another hundred grand/ Women try to get in my pants, I don’t dance, but I made a couple rappers do the Running Man/ Hatin’ off a phone that your momma bought

How are you a boss, but you got a boss? (True) Why you so mad at me? I just say the truth, y’all are just shutting us off (Off)/ True, I’m in Italy drinking wine ‘til I throw up, rappers still flexing Miami trips, need to grow up (Grow up)/ I remember my first million (Haha)

The new song is a follow up to his most recent drops “Lake Como,” “Satisfy” and “Rather Be Myself.” Back in 2020, Russ released his third studio LP SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE, his last under the Columbia Records imprint. Including its deluxe upgrade, SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE saw 21 tracks with features from Rick Ross, Bugus, Ty Dolla $ign, WESTSIDE BOOGIE, Kiana Ledé, Benny The Butcher, Devin The Dude, and Bia.

The project was a top five success, peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 with 63,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week. Later that year, Russ then liberated the five-track EP CHOMP — his first official project since his return to independence. That short project saw top quality collaborations with guest verses from Ab-Soul, DJ Premier, Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, and much more.

Be sure to press play on Russ’ brand new track “Italy.”
