Skillibeng reveals new video for “Grade 1”

The “Crocodile Teeth” star shows no signs of slowing down.

While he’s been crafting hits for some time, many have probably first learned about Skillibeng through Nicki Minaj, who decided to remix the Jamaican star’s “Crocodile Teeth” for her Beam Me Up Scotty re-release. This week, Skillibeng reveales his latest single “Grade 1,” a Milli Music-produced effort that sees him toasting about marijuana, money, women, and his lyrical abilities:

“Mi love high grade weed inna mi head, smoke nuff money stink til e renk, money nuff, and it easy fi spend, yeh mi make yuh gyal whine pon di edge, til the pumpum swell then mi leff, mi buss it up, but ano di kel tec, volvo, uno gyal a get rev, thee sickest uni cah forget me, di thing a shot like benelli, mi kill any beat…”

Directed by The Truth, the accompanying video for “Grade 1” matches the song’s vibe with shots of Skillibeng in a chair smoking while a nude woman covered in paint flanks him. the dancehall talent can also be seen dressed in all black with his crew, performing in front of a PT Cruiser while another woman dances nearby, and rocking a suit straight out of a sci-fi flick while — presumably — brainwashing someone that’s trapped in a classroom. Simply put, the clip gets unconventional from a gradual standpoint.

Last year, Skillibeng released the well-received project The Prodigy, a continuation of 2019’s Prodigy EP that saw a whopping 35 cuts with additional appearances from Jakal, Dre Island, Popcaan, Prince Swanny, and Tommy Lee Sparta. That was then followed by last May’s The Prodigy: Ladies Only Edition, a 21-song effort that featured contributions from Rich The Kid (who appears on two tracks), Jay Critch, Honey Milan, Projexx, Street Gena, F.S., Quenga, Shotta G, and Kay-Liah.
