Back in October, Lisa Mercedez blessed her fans with the EP Drama Free, a six-track offering that featured additional assists from I Am Aisha, Nadia Rose, Ninjaman, and Vybz Kartel. Since then, the multi-faceted star has liberated singles like “As Long As Life” and “Paranoid” — she also teamed up with DJ Esi for a “Succession Freestyle” with Mixtape Madness.

This past weekend, Mercedez connected with South London’s own Giggs for the hard-hitting cut “Avengers,” with Boom Productions providing the soundscape — long-time rap fans will probably remember that name from classic projects like Joe Grind’s Not Your Average Joe, Billy Da Kid’s Gabos, and Giggs’ 2008 debut Walk In Da Park. A perfect mix of dancehall and trap, “Avengers” sees the two delivers boastful bars about how they handle detractors:

“Marvelous sparkle, these avengers role with Ms. Marvel, man get burned all over this charcoal, man gon’ learn, they’ll know when it’s awful, yea, role with this spark, man gon’ really know when it’s dark, man just told me, hands on his heart, think I’m stupid? Thinking is smart…”

The accompanying clip for “Avengers” begins with masked up Lisa Mercedez riding deep in a motorcycle convoy, before switching to shots of her in what looks like a salon and a room with her girls, fly whips, and Hollowman himself nearby.

Last year was a big one for Giggs as well, thanks to his November project Now or Never. That release contained 16 cuts with contributions from Kyze, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Aystar, Tiny Boost, Demarco, Obongjayar, Jorja Smith, Dave, and Emeli Sandé. His last official LP — BIG BAD…, his fifth — was an A-list affair as well, eventually scoring him a top ten placement on the UK Albums chart.
