Novelist Guy is definitely active. Last month, the Lewisham talent returned with the creeping single “Calm,” along with a dark visual to match. Now, he follows that with the hard-hitting drill cut “With Us,” which sees production from Sustrapperazzi and centers around the level support and power that the grime vet carries behind him:

“We’ve got girls in the camp that’s gang right now getting rich with us, my n***as ain’t talking twice fam, there’s no taking the piss with us, my man are G for real, we ain’t picking up chicks in clubs, we don’t buy drinks in clubs, we test out hits in clubs

Got money and I, got respect from n***as that wanted me dead.../”

“With Us” — which was released in conjunction with Navy Music Group — also sees an accompanying music video courtesy of Alastair Uhlig, which begins with Novelist making calls in an attempt to bring people out for his music video shoot. As expected, friends, family, fans, and fellow peers come out in droves to his location, where they hang out and dance around in different areas, matching the energy of the song. Novelist is then later seen keeping the celebration going at night.

Given that it’s been more than a couple of years since Novelist released his debut LP Novelist Guy, it’s hopeful that these new bangers are a sign of an official follow-up on the horizon. That’s not to say he hasn’t been keeping his fans fed — last year saw him release the presumed trilogy of EPs titled Inferno, Heat, and Rain Fire, all through his own MMMYEH imprint. He also released another short play titled Quantum Leap, as well as the singles “Stay With Me” and “Dun Know” with fellow South London producer/rapper Prem.
