As Kanye West celebrates his 44th birthday, it’s been announced that he’s working on a forthcoming album. On Tuesday (June 8), in honor of his special day, the Chicago emcee launched a baby blue round jacket, the first official piece from the collaboration between GAP and his Yeezy brand.

The post was met with an onslaught of comments, one of which teased a new Kanye project.  “WestDayEver,” wrote Ye’s manager Abou “Bu” Thiam. “Album OTW.”

The name of the upcoming Yeezy album mirrors the words he attempted to trademark back in June amid his presidential campaign. At the time, he reportedly filed a trademark application for “West Day Ever” with hopes to use the slogan on “100 different types of apparel,” including “t-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits, bomber jackets, turtlenecks, jumpsuits, g-strings, beanies, blazers, infant wear and footwear.”

Kanye also hashtagged the phrase “WESTDAYEVER” alongside his announcement of his 10-year partnership with GAP as well as a series of succeeding posts about his Arthur Jafa-directed “Wash Us in the Blood” video and the unreleased visual for his “Spaceship” single among other things.

The announcement of Yeezy’s West Day Ever album comes on the heels of his wins at the 2021 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards. As REVOLT previously reported, West was named Songwriter of the Year for his work on songs “Hands On,” featuring gospel star Fred Hammond, “On God” and “Selah” from his 2019 Jesus is King album, which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album earlier this year.

“I was very impressed with his heart,” Hammond said after working with Kanye. “There was no judgment, it was just his heart.”

“He didn’t wanna do, like, spiritual music,” he added. “He didn’t wanna do an album about the sun and the moon… It was gonna be about Jesus.”
