Last year, Joyner Lucas blessed his fans with his official debut LP ADHD, an 18-track body of work that saw additional appearances from Logic, Young Thug, Chris Brown, Timbaland, Fabolous, and more. The project also spawned the well-received singles “I Love,” “Isis,” “Devil’s Work,” and “Will” — a tribute to Will Smith that saw a remix courtesy of the song’s iconic namesake. 2020 also saw a quick-strike follow-up titled Evolution, which contains contributions from the likes of The Game, Elijah James, Ashanti, and Rick Ross. More recently, he dropped a visual for the Evolution standout “Zim Zimma,” which featured big time cameos from Mark Wahlberg, George Lopez, and Diddy.

Today, he returns to freestyle mode with “Back In Blood (Remix),” Lucas’ spin on Pooh Shiesty and Lil Durk’s hit collaboration. As expected, he makes little work of the YC-produced effort with rhymes about current life, weak competitors, and fans perspectives of him, both personally and professionally:

“You’re no different than all of these industry niggas, I thought you were special and awesome, now you sellin’ your soul and just hopin’ on records with anyone, nigga, you lost it, I miss when you made music that I could relate to ‘cause all of your new shit ain’t thoughtful, when you gon’ make some new music with Marshall? when you gon’ pull some new shit out the arsenal? I’m back on my remix shit, don’t sue me, nigga, I’m too unruly…”

Back in April, Joyner teamed up with Lil Baby for “Ramen & OJ,” further solidifying his place in hip hop well into 2021. Even better, he made sure to celebrate the song’s entry onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, an accomplishment he achieved without the proverbial machine backing him:
